How Electronic Cigarette Works

Everyone’s been talking about Electronic Cigarette lately. The realistic smoking experience it offers, the sophistication it projects, and the healthier lifestyle it brings are just too good to be true for all guilty smokers out there—and that includes you. And the mechanism inside this ingenious piece—which is already helping millions of smokers to maintain their distance from the irresistible tobacco cigarettes—remains a mystery to most of us. Well, not anymore. Here’s how an Electronic Cigarette works:

An Electronic Cigarette is composed of several parts as shown below:

So you see there the Atomizing Chamber, Electronic Circuit, Cartridge, Battery, Indicator Light and Inhaler that compose the Electronic Cigarette.

  • ·      The Atomizing Chamber is the main part of the Electronic Cigarette. It is the one responsible for heating the Propylene Glycol (a substance approved by the US Food and Drug Administration).
  • ·       The Electronic Circuit serves as the passageway of the electricity coming from the battery to the Atomizing Chamber.
  • ·         The Cartridge stores the substance Propylene Glycol.
  • ·         Indicator light is a LED light not just intended to create a realistic look of electronic cigarette but also to indicate a negative pressure inside.
  • ·         The Battery serves as the power-source of the atomizing chamber and the LED light.

The Mechanism:
  • ·         During the puffing process, the LED indicator lights up. This indicates that a negative pressure is building inside, triggering a flow of electricity from the battery to the LED lights and to the Atomizing Chamber at exactly the same time.
  • ·         Atomizing Chamber heats up the substance Propylene Glycol in the cartridge every time a negative pressure occurs inside the Electronic Cigarette. A vapor results from this process and will now serve as the smoke to be inhaled.
  • ·         Unlike with tobacco cigarette smoking that exposes you to 4000 different substances—50 of these are proven to cause cancer, electronic cigarette provides only a safe vapor of nicotine and flavoring.

Various studies had been conducted to verify the claims of electronic cigarette as a safe substitute to tobacco smoking and an easier way to help one quit smoking. The results were promising, showing a significant decrease of tobacco smoking. Also, an increase in the number of individuals who successfully quit smoking was also noted in these studies.
